Applying for a Branch Head

What it means to be a Branch Head

Branch Heads serve as the primary leaders and representatives of ISAD at their respective institutions. This is not a title based role, but a working leadership position that requires responsibility, leadership, and consistent engagement.

Branch Heads are responsible for establishing and sustaining an active research culture within their campus branch while aligning with ISAD’s broader academic mission and publication goals.

Responsibilities of Branch Heads

Branch Heads are expected to:

  • Recruit and organize a structured research team within their institution

  • Oversee manuscript development

  • Assign writing roles (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussions)

  • Ensure adherence to academic standards (Mainly PRISMA)

  • Coordinate internal deadlines and maintain workflow accountability

  • Communicate regularly with ISAD Executive Leadership

  • Represent ISAD professionally within their school

Branch Heads are responsible for quality control before any manuscript is submitted for executive review.

Time Commitment & Expectations

This position requires:

  • Consistent weekly involvement

  • Active manuscript supervision

  • Responsiveness in team communication

  • Reliability during journal submission cycles

If academic load or external commitments will prevent sustained leadership, applicants are strongly encouraged to reconsider before applying. This is a long-term commitment, not a short-term resume addition.

Performance & Accountability

Branch Heads will be evaluated based on:

  • Research output and submission progress

  • Team engagement and retention

  • Professional communication

  • Ability to meet internal deadlines

Failure to maintain standards may result in leadership reassignment. ISAD prioritizes productivity, integrity, and collaborative growth.

What You Should Know Before Applying

You should apply if you:

  • Are genuinely interested in academic research and publication

  • Can lead peers with structure and fairness

  • Are comfortable giving constructive feedback

  • Understand authorship ethics and responsibility

  • Can balance leadership with academic performance

You should not apply if you:

  • Are looking only for a title

  • Cannot commit long-term

  • Prefer passive involvement

  • Avoid conflict resolution or accountability conversations

Branch Heads represent ISAD. Professionalism in communication, academic integrity, and collaborative conduct is mandatory. Any breach of ethical standards will be taken seriously. If you are ready to build something meaningful, mentor peers, and contribute to publishable research at a high standard, we encourage you to apply. Leadership here is earned through work, not granted through title.
